Vanick Der Bedrossian was born in San Francisco and moved to Paris, France at the age of nine. His experiences growing up in Europe fuelled an interest in travel, photography, and food culture. He attended the University of California in Santa Cruz and studied abroad in Ghana, West Africa. He graduated with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology in 2006.

Since graduating Vanick has been working at La Mediterranee, his family's bustling trio of Bay Area restaurants. He has taken a break from the restaurant world to spend three months living in Armenia, volunteering as a Kiva Fellow to help increase access to microfinance. On his spare time, Vanick takes pleasure in writing about his many experiences of Armenia.
