Today, I’m “retired” in the sense of not working full time for an employer. But in truth, the opposite is the case. I’m busy as ever.

Besides actuarial work described below, I have expanded my writing interests to an entire new area—travel and the culture and history of sites to which I travel. Along with my wife Maralyn, and sometimes on my own, I write about sites we’ve visited. History and culture have always fascinated me, and now I have numerous opportunities to write about them for many eager to read my views.

Still, I continue working on several industry and professional committees on a host of issues facing the insurance industry. In conjunction with these activities, I write numerous business articles. Also, I do some actuarial consulting for companies.

Earlier I was a partner at two of the largest accounting firms, life and health executive for a conglomerate and later, a smaller private insurer. It is wonderful to be able to combine business and pleasure with my writing and life.
