Kara K. Murphy is a freelance writer, reporter and editor covering travel, fashion, beauty, and consumer gadgets. She contributes to magazines such as InStyle and Every Day with Rachael Ray, and her work regularly appears on websites such as Frommers, SocietePerrier and Oribe. Before freelancing full time, Kara worked as a writer and editor at People and People StyleWatch magazines. While there, she covered the latest trends in fashion and beauty and interviewed celebrities, designers, and industry experts.

Kara’s hobbies include traveling, tracking down food trucks, and vintage shopping. She also enjoys organizing closets, flexing her double-jointed thumbs, and decorating her apartment with flea market finds (not necessarily in that order). Kara graduated from Northwestern University with a BS in journalism and lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.
