Ian Coughlan hails from Kennebunk, Maine. The 22-year-old recently graduated from Colorado College and is currently embarking on a journey through Chile and Argentina, especially in the Patagonia region, with his two friends Zach and Nick.
Coughlan grew up with an international background, living in many places around the world throughout his adolescence. His father, an investment banker, was working for Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong when Coughlan was born in 1990. The family spent two years in Tokyo, then four years in London. Coughlan credits the experience of growing up abroad as enlightening his horizons to the breadth of experiences available worldwide.
In the years following he has developed a passion for being on the go, seeing as much as he can, and meeting as many people as he can. Coughlan’s travels have taken him throughout Europe, to Australia and New Zealand, and all over the North American continent. It is the impulsiveness, freedom, and prospects of the unfamiliar that continue to allure him to remote areas of the globe and leading a nomadic lifestyle.
