The Grand Hyatt New York Mixes Business With Pleasure

New York City, what’s not to love? I’ve been multiple times and each time it’s a new experience. This past trip was a quick one as I was asked to come speak at the New York Travel Festival. With only 23 hours in the Big Apple, how did I spend my time? You might be surprised.
I landed at 10 p.m. at John F. Kennedy International Airport and promptly caught a cab to Midtown Manhattan and the Grand Hyatt New York, where a beautiful lobby and a super comfortable room welcomed me. There are a few things that are important to me in a hotel room: a comfortable bed with good pillows, nice bathroom amenities, space (if you’ve stayed in an NYC hotel, you know space is a premium), and free Wi-Fi. My room at the Grand Hyatt delivered.
After my arrival, I freshened up and met some friends at a great lounge called Revel in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, where we found good drinks, fun music to dance to, and a lively crowd. We laughed and danced until 3 a.m., when I decided I needed to get some sleep for my talk the next day.
I awoke refreshed and enjoyed a complimentary breakfast at the Grand Club on the 16th floor of the hotel, which is available to guests who book a Grand Club room. The club has indoor and outdoor seating, where guests can work or socialize while having breakfast or early evening hors d’oeuvres. Breakfast is a buffet of cereals, hot breakfast items, and pastries—perfect for the business traveler on the go or the one who needs to sit and get some work done.
I fell into the latter category, so I sat with my breakfast and worked on my presentation until 11 a.m. before heading to the New York Travel Festival to deliver my talk about travel video production. The bell desk proved to be a lifesaver, as I didn’t want to bring my bag with me to the event and instead was able to check it with them and head out. When I was finished, I caught a quick snack and a coffee with some friends, went back to the hotel to retrieve my bag, and was on my way back to Los Angeles.
It was a fast trip, but, thanks to the Grand Hyatt, it was a comfortable one.
