Shop and Celebrate the Holidays at the 1 Malaysia Year-End Sale
What better way to celebrate the festive season than holidaying and shopping in Malaysia? The country has launched the 1 Malaysia Year-End Sale (1MYES), one of its three major shopping events. At 1MYES, locals and visitors alike can immerse themselves in a fabulous shopping experience.
In honor of 1MYES, discounts and special offers can be found throughout Malaysia. This is perhaps most notable in Kuala Lumpur, a city which recently ranked fourth in global news network CNN’s survey of the top 10 best shopping cities in the world, ahead of well-established shopping hubs such as Paris, Hong Kong, and Dubai. At Sungei Wang Plaza, shoppers can enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Yoga Lin, a Chinese Mandopop singer and season 1 winner of televised Taiwan singing competition, “One Million Star.” In addition, those who think they have the perfect combination of creativity, fashion sense, agility, and intelligence can try their luck at a treasure hunt, held at Kuala Lumpur’s Kenanga Wholesale City.
Near Kuala Lumpur in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, The Mines shopping mall is the place to go to win some fabulous prizes. Shoppers can score great giveaways, such as a two-day, one-night stay for four at the Golden Palm Villa in Sepang or a gold set from Poh Kong. The Queensbay Mall in Penang, another state located in Peninsular Malaysia, has planned an “I Love New York” contest, where stocking up on holiday gifts can help one lucky shopper take a New York holiday for two worth 25,000 Malaysian ringgit. Other travel-related prizes include return tickets to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea, won in the “Buy & Fly!” Lucky Draw Contest held at The Boulevard shopping mall and the Imperial Mall in Sarawak, located on the island of Borneo.
1MYES also offers events for artistic types interested in immersing themselves in the culture of Malaysia. Penang’s 1st Avenue Mall invites shoppers to participate in a design competition featuring the geometrical line drawings of kolam art, helping them get into the spirit of Deepavali, a five-day Hindu festival also known as the “festival of lights.” Fans of Sarawakian products and culture should not miss the Sarawak Showcase at Plaza Angsana Mall in Tampoi, Johor Bahru. In Kuantan, Pahang, the East Coast Mall has organized workshops for Christmas clay doll painting, Christmas wishing card decoration, Christmas origami, and New Year’s card design.
Whether shopping for yourself or for friends and family this holiday season, the 1MYES provides excellent products and a plethora of deals and giveaways to make Malaysia the place to be for the ultimate shopping experience. So don’t wait; this event only lasts through January 1, 2013.
