OPUS Hotel: Step Into Vancouver
I quite possibly have never seen a more conveniently located hotel than OPUS Hotel in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Just steps from the Canada Line, Vancouver’s newest and infinitely useful transit line, a stay at OPUS Hotel means your home base puts you in prime viewing position of Vancouver. Located in Yaletown, just a quick walk from the inner harbor, the surrounding neighborhood offers trendy, tasty restaurants like Goldfish and Blue Water, and cute boutiques and shops. Within walking distance you’ll find great shopping on Granville and Robson Streets, and easy transportation to Stanley Park.
All of this is not to stay that the appeal of OPUS Hotel rests on its excellent location alone. OPUS is, in its own right, a chic and highly appealing place to stay. This is a hotel with style. From the luxe bar and lounge to the vibrant colors and sleek textures of the guest rooms, right down to the porters sporting exclusive John Fleuvog shoes, OPUS radiates good looks and a modern aesthetic.
At the front desk you’re greeted with champagne on check-in. As for your stay, OPUS Vancouver understands that no hotel experience is one-size-fits-all. That’s why OPUS offers its signature Lifestyle Concierge Service. The designers of OPUS created five unique fictional characters to act as muses for the hotel. When making your reservation you are asked to identify with one of these five make-believe friends, Susan, Mike, Dede, Billy and Pierre, all of whom enjoy very different lifestyles. You can take a short quiz to find the character and room that matches your personality, or test-drive a new version of you by playing against your type. Are you more like Susan, a high-powered fashion executive who loves yoga and classical music? Or are you a Dede, the dramatic actress who loves hip hop and shopping for vintage clothes? Receive restaurant and activity recommendations according to each character, or mix and match from each. Follow rock star Billy to Fortune Sound Club one night, then take food critic Pierre’s advice the next and head to Uva Wine Bar. Even the rooms have personality—OPUS’ ninety-six vibrantly colored guestrooms are broken up into lifestyle-inspired décor schemes designed to match the five personalities. Some rooms are modern and minimalist while others are funky and eclectic. All are chic and comfortable.
In the evening enjoy a cocktail in the lobby lounge, considered Vancouver’s Most Popular Nightlife by Zagat, or dine at the hotel. During our stay, OPUS’ Elixir Bistro offered up a delicious brunch full of tasty egg dishes and other well-made morning repasts. However, the elegant Elixir Bistro has been recently transformed into a pop-up style restaurant called 100 Days. Running for, you guessed it, 100 Days, it’s a dining experiment that expresses the collaboration of graffiti art and innovative cuisine. Local artist Vince Dumoulin will use the dining room and exterior as his canvas for a work-in-progress. Meanwhile, chefs will create an urban Mediterranean cuisine inspired by the art surrounding them. Much like OPUS, 100 Days will push the envelope of style.
Looking for an eco-friendly stay? OPUS Hotel Vancouver has a number of green initiatives you’ll like, many of which you’ll find in the kitchen. The hotel is a founding member of the Green Table Network, an initiative to reduce waste, recycle, conserve water and energy and use fewer pollutants in hotel and restaurant kitchens, and participates in the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program which encourages sustainable seafood options on restaurant menus. They also offer complimentary valet parking for guests driving hybrid vehicles.
OPUS Hotel Vancouver was voted one of the world’s top 500 Hotels by Travel + Leisure Magazine for three consecutive years, and made the Condé Nast Traveler Magazine Gold List four years in a row. If you find yourself in Vancouver, check in and check out all that OPUS has to offer.
