Letter From the Editor: November 2014

Dear Readers,
It’s a pleasure to meet you! I am Jetset Extra’s managing editor, which means I’m in charge of coordinating our awesome group of Insiders who live and travel all over the world. I got my start in journalism while studying at San Jose State University in San Jose, California, where I wrote for the school newspaper and served as the managing editor for an edition of the school magazine. Though I had originally envisioned a career with a fashion or lifestyle consumer magazine, it didn’t take long to realize my true passion: travel.
After working at a few jobs that helped me learn the ins and outs of destination-centric writing (and an incredible experience during a month-long internship in Italy), I have found my home here at Jetset Extra. Even though most of my time is spent behind the computer, assigning press trips and approving article angles, in the past two years I’ve also had the chance to travel to Mexico (Riviera Maya, Loreto, and La Paz, to be exact) and the Caribbean island of Nevis. In addition, I just returned from Brisbane and Hayman Island in Australia—an incredible trip that I look forward to sharing with you in the next few weeks. View some photos from my trip on Instagram and Twitter by searching the hashtag #JSEfliesVirginAu, and be sure to check back for full coverage of my Australian adventure!
This past month, our Insiders have shared their stories about some beautiful and historical places—including Vancouver Island, British Columbia; Old Saybrook, Connecticut; and Heidelberg, Germany—and our November calendar is filling up with coverage of more exciting places around the globe. Is there a destination you’re excited about traveling to in the coming months? Do you have any holiday trips planned? Share them with us—tweet @JetsetExtra or comment on our Facebook page, JetsetExtraTravel! You can also reach me on Twitter at @OneTravelLove.
Wishing you all safe and happy travels!
Sincerely,
Leah Swofford
Managing Editor
