Letter From the Editor: July 2015

Ahhh summertime. School is out and so is the sun, and across the globe people are inspired to pack their bags and get out of town, whether for a couple days or a couple weeks. This time of year has always put me in a travel state of mind, from family trips to Palm Springs and Nevada’s Lake Mead as a kid to music festivals and Fourth of July celebrations in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee in more recent years.
Though I have a few weekend-long, close-to-home trips lined up in the coming months, my big summer getaway has already occurred, as I’ve just returned from Thailand! I traveled for a week in late June with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to see the temples of Bangkok as well as visit the small communities in the country’s easternmost province of Trat and experience wellness activities on the island of Ko Chang. Be on the lookout for coverage of my trip coming to Jetset Extra soon!
Also, make sure you check out our series of articles about the six host cities for the FIFA Women’s World Cup: Winnipeg, Moncton, Ottawa, Montréal, Edmonton, and Vancouver. While these posts were geared toward those attending the soccer games (culminating with the final match in Vancouver on July 5), there’s also plenty of information about what to see and do beyond the stadium, making them useful guides year-round. So far I’ve only had the opportunity to visit beautiful Vancouver, but the rest of the cities are definitely on my must-see list! Perhaps next summer I’ll be able to cross another one off my list—any recommendations about where to start?
Wherever life takes you this summer, we would love to see your vacation photos and hear about your great adventures. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
Happy Travels!
