Jetsetting With Television Personality Victoria Recaño

Victoria Recaño appears as a correspondent on the top-rated television news magazine “Inside Edition” and as the host of web-series “The Trend” on Zappos Couture. She has filled guest spots on shows such as “CSI: Miami” and “Deal or No Deal” and writes a food-centric blog called, “The Hot Dish.” The TV personality and gourmet certainly has her hands full, but she still finds time to keep up with the latest in food, fashion, entertainment, and travel.
Q: What type of traveler are you? (i.e., adventurer, cultural explorer, free spirit, rejuvenator, spa aficionado, etc.)
A: I try to incorporate a bit of pleasure and business in every trip I take. In general I prefer not to “rough it” in any way.
Q: What types of activities do you like to do on your travels? Do you look for a place where it’s quiet and you can relax or someplace that has great activities or nightlife?
A: I love it all! For me, the perfect trip includes some time at the beach and some time soaking up local culture through restaurants, shops, museums, and nightlife.
Q: When thinking about where you will travel to next, what inspires you to make a decision? And what, if any, research do you do about that destination?
A: My inspiration to travel often starts with an invitation, such as for a birthday or wedding, or through close friends looking to get away. I always do research about where I am traveling to because I like to be prepared and know what to expect.
Q: What is the most memorable trip you’ve taken and why?
A: One of the best trips I’ve taken was to Italy with family and a large group of friends. First, we visited the Puglia region and all stayed together in a seven-bedroom masseria in Mesagne. Then some of us moved on to the Amalfi Coast, where we stayed in Ravello at the Hotel Caruso Belvedere. It is one of the most spectacular hotels I have ever seen, not to mention it’s situated in a magical setting. Great company in a beautiful place made everything special.
Q: What is the best food you’ve ever found on a trip?
A: I always find the best food on my trips because that is all part of my research. I make sure to have reservations before we get there. Some of the most memorable meals were at Piegari in Buenos Aires, A Travessa in Lisbon, and Era Ora in Palma Campania just outside of Naples.
Q: What, if anything, do you always take with you when you travel?
A: I always take my foundation, my robe, and multiple credit cards.
Q: What’s your best piece of travel advice?
A: Have a plan in place every day; don’t play it by ear. Keeping things open seems like a good idea in theory, but it always ends up in frustration. You can always change the plans, but you can’t always make them.
Q: Is there a destination where you can’t imagine not returning?
A: There are so many. Nearly everywhere I’ve been is worth another visit.
Q: Where are your favorite weekend getaways?
A: We love to drive to Laguna Beach or Santa Barbara to visit with friends and to fly to Phoenix, Arizona, to stay with family.
Q: Where would you like to travel to next?
A: I would like to travel to Portofino for a wedding we have been invited to attend.
Q: Tell us about your upcoming project(s)?
A: I am always working on various projects. I host the web-series “The Trend” on Zappos Couture, where I am lucky enough to hold the title as their luxury lifestyle expert and cover celebrity fashion, travel, food, and entertainment. And each week, I report for “Inside Edition,” covering news and human interest stories from all over the country.
