Jetsetting With International Model Carissa Rosario
One of the hardest-working models in the industry, Carissa Rosario takes her beauty and entrepreneurial spirit way past the end of a runway. Her work spans an international platform; she appears on television and online, in magazines, and at industry events. Southern California might be home base for Rosario, but she has endless opportunities to see the world.
Q: What type of traveler are you?
A: I would definitely say I am an adventurer and an explorer.
Q: What types of activities do you like to do on your travels?
A: I love to explore everything when I travel, trying new restaurants, sightseeing, exploring historical landmarks, and meeting new people.
Q: Do you look for a place where it’s quiet and you can relax, or someplace that has great activities or nightlife?
A: I look for a place that has great activities and/or nightlife. You can rest at home or on the plane, I always say.
Q: When thinking about where you will travel to next, what inspires you to make a decision?
A: It depends what I am looking for when I am traveling. I always ask around to see if any of my friends have been to a new location or destination worth visiting. I also have a few places on my checklist that I want to visit.
Q: And what, if any, research do you do about that destination?
A: Google is my best friend. Aside from asking friends about their experiences with travel, I look up reviews about the places/hotels I want to travel to, too.
Q: What is the most memorable trip you’ve taken and why?
A: The most memorable trip I took was to Dubai. I always wanted to travel there; it was like a dream come true, and it beat my expectations by a long shot. Everything was so incredible: the architecture, the food, the culture, the hotel, and the shopping. I had the best trip from beginning to end.
Q: What is the “best” food find you’ve ever found on a trip?
A: The best food I found is in the Maldives. Everything was so fresh. They had every kind of exotic fruit for fresh juices, which they used to make cocktails. The food was absolutely the freshest seafood I have ever tasted.
Q: What, if anything, do you always take with you when you travel?
A: I always take a camera and music. I love to take pictures and capture everything. My music, I can’t live without it.
Q: What’s your best piece of travel advice?
A: Do what you love. If you like to go on vacation to relax, find a destination that has just that. If you like to go explore, find a destination that offers options for exploring.
Q: Is there a destination where you can’t imagine not returning?
A: Kingston, Jamaica.
Q: Where are your favorite weekend getaways?
A: Well I live in Southern California so my weekend getaways consist of trips to San Diego, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, and Las Vegas.
Q: Where would you like to travel next?
A: The next big trip on my list is one to Italy. I have always wanted to go to Rome, Milan, and Florence and experience the Italian culture.
Q: Tell us about your upcoming project(s).
A: I have a new show I am working on for Style Network, and photo shoots, commercials, and a couple film projects are also in the works. The sky is the limit….

International model, actress, spokeswoman, businesswoman, nutritionist, and philanthropist Carissa Rosario seems to be everywhere these days. The Latin American and Greek beauty has graced the covers of more than fifteen international and national magazines, appeared on the Style Network’s “Model Genius,” hosted “Como TV” for Telemundo, and finished first out of 600 contestants on ABC’s “The Big Time.” In addition, Rosario has appeared in commercials for brands including Budweiser and K-Swiss and in feature films, as well as collaborated on her own handbag, jewelry, and perfume lines. She recently launched her perfume line, “Young and Fresh” by Christopher Joseph.
A graduate of Florida State University with a degree in nutrition and exercise science, Rosario created a workout DVD with Antrel Rolle of the New York Giants. She currently devotes a great deal of time to the fight against pediatric brain cancer.
