Athens Sipping
October is a shoulder season for fashion here since the weather is unseasonably warm this month. I’m just off the beach, so I tossed the caftans to the back of the closet and dug out my Miu Miu biker boots (thankfully flown over to me by my friend Maria who was married in Mykonos last month), and something a bit more appropriate for perusing the great watering holes of Athens- part of my research for making Athens Europe’s best next city break destination.
So I ventured off my rooftop office at Hotel Grand Bretagne, and discovered six d.o.g.s, a day and night cultural entertainment center at the heart of the city’s Monastiraki district. Owned by former New Yorker Panagiotis Pilafas, the amazing space organically combines a café, a bar, a visual arts project space, a garden, and a gig space for live music, parties, workshops, screenings, etc.
In their own words, six d.o.g.s is, “…suggested as a space which aims at creating a high-profile dynamic nucleus of cross-genre activities right in the heart of the Historic Center, initialized by an equally dynamic experienced group of young art professionals, aiming at being both avant-garde and pop, sharing similar qualities.”
The back garden is still divine this time of the year, and the extensive menu features light snacks, local goodies, artisan cocktails, coffees, and gorgeous tea infusions. Add it to your Athens list of must-visits.
