Artist David Silva and Baja’s Art Renaissance
There is a beautiful art scene in northern Baja where a Renaissance seems to be emerging. Extremely dedicated and talented artists support each other, exchange ideas and share with us their skills and influences. To meet them is to fall in love with them and their work. They are true craftsmen that live to create.
David Silva is one such artist whose work always takes my breath away. Combining old and new techniques, his work has a timelessness and a whimsy I find so delightful.
Often humorous and political, his rich use of colors and decoupaged images draws you into the paintings themselves and makes you feel like you are on stage at a smokey club with a flamenco dancer or you are having tea with Don Quixote himself in a cafe inside the windmill.
He is having a showing of his Flamenco pieces this weekend 6/26/10 at his gallery in Rosarito. Be sure to go by if you are in the area. Or make a special trip down to his gallery. It is sure to be a great time.
