All About the Water at Spa Solage
Solage Calistoga, located at the north end of Napa Valley, is one of the region’s newest eco-resorts. And one would expect that their spa would be exceptional, which it is. A visit to to Spa Solage begins with a visit to the bathhouse. You can sip cucumber water while you select essential oils to add to your custom mud concoction for the signature treatment, the Mudslide.
Calistoga became a popular resort in the 1860s for San Francisco residents looking to escape the cool summer weather and to enjoy the famous geothermal mineral waters. In this tradition, Spa Solage provides their own version of the mineral water and mud-bath experience popularized over a hundred years ago.
The Mudslide features a three-part series: The Mud, The Waters and The Rest – guaranteed to leave you silky, smooth and relaxed. First, relax in the heated mud lounge while the mud dries. After showering, rehydrate in a soaking tub filled with the famous geothermal mineral water with healing properties. Finally rest in their state-of-the-art Sound Chair, where you will be wrapped in a cocoon while you listen to soothing music and experience heated vibrations through the chair. Most people slip into a deep state of bliss.
You can also choose from an array of facials, massages, and body services offered in 14 soothing treatment rooms in the 20,000-square-foot facility. There are plenty of enhancements to add to any treatment to prolong the pampering.
No matter what treatment you choose, you will want to experience more of the healing waters in the outdoor pool, warmed to body temperature. Enjoy the comfort of the chaise lounges scattered around the spa pool, where you can soak up the sun. Cabanas can be rented for individuals or groups and you can order snacks. There are separate men’s and women’s jetted-pools, kept at 103 degrees, where clothing is optional.
If you are seeking romance, choose Starlight at the Bathhouse. After the spa closes, enjoy the privacy of the spa just for the two of you under the stars. Package includes two glasses of sparkling wine and a shared dessert between 8:30 to 10:30 pm.
