The Godfather of Film Opens ‘Wine Wonderland’
Francis Ford Coppola has always been known to push envelopes, ride the edge and create scenes that are beyond imagination – but he usually does that on the big screen. This month, Francis Ford Coppola debuts his latest family-friendly attractions with the opening of a winery park, film museum and pool club. Francis puts it best, saying the winery is “a wine wonderland, a park of pleasure where people of all ages can enjoy all the best things in life – food, wine, music, dancing, games, swimming and performances of all types. A place to celebrate the love of life.”
The beautiful property is located in Geyserville, California and is open daily through October 31st and weekends in November. The gems of the park are two glorious swimming pools that also include European-style changing cabins. For guests’ pleasure Francis has also built an outdoor Pool Café and a performance Pavilion that is designed after the pavilion in The Godfather Part II. Also on the property are four bocce courts and a children’s lending library.
Right now is the perfect time to head to Geyserville because admission to the pools is complimentary to all guests and includes the use of a towel. What could be more enticing than a beautiful glass of Sofia sparkling wine, light appetizers and sunshine, all enjoyed poolside? Daily cabin rentals are available for an introductory price of $25 on a first-come, first-serve basis. The outdoor Pool Cafe serves a selection of poolside fare such as sandwiches and gelato. Much of the influence is based on Francis Ford Coppola’s Italian heritage. Throughout November guests will also be able to enjoy performances at the Pavilion that will include a variety of entertainment including live music and dancing.
Not to be missed is RUSTIC, Francis’s Favorites, a festive restaurant with outdoor dining terraces and adjacent cocktail bar, two wine tasting bars, an extensive movie museum, and a collection of retail and gift items from around the world.
The Jetset Extra team went on location to check out the new property. There we were given a rare glimpse into the making of wine with the director of winemaking & general manager, Corey Beck. He took us behind the scenes and told us about his vision, working with Francis Ford Coppola, and what makes this winery so special.
