Style and Views at the W Chicago-Lakeshore

Being the only hotel on Chicago’s Lakeshore Drive has its perks. Not only does the W Chicago-Lakeshore have incredible views of the lake, it’s also a short walk to Chicago’s famed Magnificent Mile and lots of other iconic city landmarks.
Location used to be the main appeal for visitors, but the W has just upped the ante with a swanky, $38 million renovation. All that cash means a complete transformation of the lakeside high-rise, including 520 guestrooms, 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and a brand-new restaurant.
LED-lit hallways lead to minimalistic rooms with an ultra-stylish aesthetic, all designed to showcase the breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. A soft color palette with bright accents and banquette seating create a modern, lounge-like environment, while seamless window frames provide unobstructed views.
Lobbies at W Hotels are called Living Rooms, and this one has a striking new look. Graphic artwork, cutting-edge architectural features, circular lounges, and a DJ booth combine to make this a high-style hangout area that’s perfect for events (which are held frequently here).
Looking to host a meeting or social gathering? The hotel’s event spaces have expanded to include two new areas with amazing views. The most impressive: Altitude, which offers 360-degree views of the lake and city.
Right off the Living Room is CURRENT, an Italian-inspired restaurant helmed by chef Gregory Elliott. The menu highlights seasonal dishes with bold flavors, from house-made pasta and pizza to dishes such as sea urchin risotto and bone-in rib eye.
This hotel is not for the faint-hearted. If you’re looking for a very quiet, more traditional hotel, then this isn’t for you. But if you’re planning a bachelor/bachelorette party or a weekend away with friends or you’re simply looking for a trendy hotel with a festive, high-energy atmosphere, then the W Chicago-Lakeshore is the place to be!
