Rich Culinary Stew
What do you get when you combine the cultures and cooking styles of Japan, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the rest of southeast Asian islands?
Sunda at 110 W. Illinois in Chicago. Sunda may be one of the “newest kids on the block” in the explosion of Asian Fusion restaurants, but it may very possibly be the best.
Since I was a guest, I politely sampled the seaweed salad offered by my hostess. It was positively one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever tasted—I consumed the whole bowl! But I still had room for the truly amazing Rockit Shrimpo with walnuts.
There is something for everyone at Sunda’s sleek, modern gathering place – a hot cocktail lounge, sushi bar and private dining. I’ll be returning for more seaweed.
