Penthouse Views in Berlin, Germany
Everyone loves a good view, and there are a few in Berlin worth seeing on a Saturday night (although Tuesdays are more popular among the locals). Here are some bars with views worth checking out:
40 Seconds
40 Seconds is located on the 8th floor of the Loeser & Wolf building—a 40-second elevator ride up above the Berlin skyline. Modern and metropolitan, this bar offers tasty drinks and a nice view from the center of Berlin, slightly below Potsdamer Platz. As the night progresses, the music gets louder and the dancing begins. The terrace is a great place to cool off, take in the view, and maybe meet someone new.
Solar Bar
Solar Bar is one of my favorites also located south of Potsdamer Platz. The entrance is slightly hidden away: walk through an empty parking lot, ring a doorbell, and hope that someone will let you in. The door lady is selective, but not as selective as Berghain.
The elevator delivers me to the 17th floor, and I step out into the dim-lit bar as people finish their desserts on the tables to the right and a light show dances around the lounge on the left. I walk left straight past the bar, passing couples lounging on comfortable sofa chairs and swings. The drinks are tasty, and the view is stunning. The light show syncs with the music, setting the perfect mood for a romantic evening.
360° in the TV Tower (Fernsehturm)
Hovering over Alexanderplatz, the Berlin TV Tower is the tallest landmark in Berlin and offers a rotating view of the city. If you have some time and don’t mind paying 12€ to enter the restaurant & bar, then you should add this to your list. You may want to check the forecast before planning your evening around this bar, since clouds could really dampen the view from 207 meters up in the air.
