OC Housewife Alexis Bellino Comes to Lunch at the London
Three of LA’s top bloggers and I met up recently with Alexis Bellino from Real Housewives of Orange County. The London Hotel rooftop in West Hollywood set the scene for a gorgeous day for girl talk and spinach salad!
If you don’t know anything about Alexis you should know she is not your everyday housewife! This woman does it all, and still finds time to still be best friends with her husband. She is a mother of three children; she runs her business, has a television reality show, and still manages to look amazing all the time.
Since there were four of us asking questions, I borrowed some of the other gals’ questions that I thought would be interesting.
Mary Anne: Traveling with a family can be difficult, but it doesn’t mean you can’t live the “jetset” lifestyle. How do you and your husband incorporate travel with family?
Alexis: My husband and I didn’t have a lot of alone time – we were married in 11 months and pregnant six months after we were married, so we had about a year and a half of really traveling the world. We went to Greece a couple of times, all over the US, and Hawaii several times. Traveling was the one thing we wished we had done more of, because now I am one of the moms that has let my children kind of hinder me going places. When I had my son, we traveled – he’s been to Hawaii several times, Vegas, and Missouri three times, but with my girls (poor things) they haven’t been anywhere. It has intimidated me as a mom to travel with them. We did take them all to Lake Arrowhead, and by the time the weekend was over, we called off the Disney cruise. We needed a vacation from taking three kids under five on vacation. But our goal this coming summer is to get on a Disney cruise, because it will have something for the children and something for my husband and me.
Mary Anne: Your dress line is casual, comfortable, and beautiful. How does that incorporate into a woman’s lifestyle if she wants to travel with it?
Alexis: Obviously silk is not easy to travel with, because you have to take a steamer with you or ask the hotel to take the wrinkles out. There are three dresses in my line that are made from a material that does not wrinkle, you can take them out of your bag and go.
Mary Anne: What goes into your overnight bag when you go on a trip?
Alexis: My whole bathroom! I don’t know the term “carry on”. I haven’t mastered the skill of packing yet. I think packing is a skill that should be taught to all women at the age of 12. Recently I went to Sonoma with a girlfriend and she brought one little bag and I asked her where all her luggage was. (smile)
Mary Anne: What is the one item you absolutely cannot leave home without?
Alexis: My false eyelashes, face products and toothbrush. I always bring them with me in case I get stuck overnight on a layover or something.
Maxine Tatlonghari, Vanity Girl Hollywood: What is your favorite lash brand?
Alexis: Ardell or Mac. When I’m doing red carpet I use Mac. I use Ardell every day.
Tami Gibson, A Mom in Red High Heels: What is the essential feeling behind your collection?
Alexis: My overall goal was to bring something (I am a hardworking businesswoman and mom, and I’m tired all the time) that hardworking women everywhere who are tired can put on that perks them up and makes them feel trendy and classy with neutral colors.
Patty Rappa, Glampreneur Girl: How was it getting into the fashion line with your husband?
Alexis: My husband is an entrepreneur who came from a trailer park and now is very successful, and when I came to him with this idea he got very excited, and because he saw the passion in me, he really just let me take the bull by the horns. He helped with the start-up costs but I ran the creative and marketing side of it. We work as a great team.
It was great meeting Alexis and getting an opportunity to ask a few questions about travel, fashion, and life.
