Luce Restaurant Celebrates Chef Dominique Crenn’s Iron Chef America Win
On Sunday, August 8, 2010 the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco held a private reception at Luce to see who would be crowned the winner of Iron Chef America. What made the event so special was Chef Dominique Crenn, Chef de Cuisine at Luce was the challenger. Hospitality and restaurant industry insiders, as well as friends and family of Chef Crenn gathered to await the outcome.
Special guests were greeted with a glass of wine and a bountiful feast of artfully presented food. The appetizers were as tasty as they were beautiful to behold and included: Arctic Char, with tomato compote, fennel and flowers; Lamb lollipops with mint tzaziki and harissa; Saffron Arancini with Manchego cheese and herbed aioli; Chilled sweet yellow corn veloute with roasted corn, tarragon and celery; and Heirloom tomato consomme with basil oil, served cold in a shot glass.
Chef Dominique Crenn graciously greeted guests prior to the airing of the television show. Flats screens were scattered throughout the dining areas to ensure that all guests could view the competition. As the competition heated up guests hoped for a positive outcome for Chef Crenn. The competition featured the use of yogurt in each of the courses to which Chef Crenn created creative, beautifully plated dishes. The crowd erupted into applause when it was announced that Chef Crenn was the winner of the competition.
Staff were on hand to provide flawless service and an endless supply of flowing wine, delectable food, and attentive disposal of dishes. The evening concluded with the special touch of autographed oven-mitts from Chef Crenn for departing guests.
San Francisco is considered to be a world-class food destination and this win by Chef Dominique Crenn only adds to the luster. She brings a strong pedigree with some of the finest restaurants including Campton Place, Park Grill (Park Hyatt), Abode in Santa Monica, and the Manhattan Beach Club.
To celebrate this remarkable accomplishment Chef Crenn will be offering an Iron Chef America prix fixe menu at Luce from August 9 through Labor Day (September 6) 2010 for $65 per person.
