Letter From the Editor: November 2015

Every November, Americans pause to give thanks for family, friends, and good fortune. The practice of Thanksgiving sometimes seems to get lost among the mound of turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes enjoyed on the fourth Thursday of the month, but the true meaning of the holiday is one I feel is important to honor.
One thing I am incredibly grateful for is the ability to travel. Not everyone can take the time or spend the money to see the world, and I appreciate the circumstances that allow me to afford this privilege. Though my husband and I most often choose to spend our vacation time visiting friends and family around the US, we did take a big trip this year to Barcelona and Dubrovnik. Exploring these two unique cities is a memory I won’t soon forget.
As with each of these letters, I’d like to also give a shout-out to some of our writers and the exciting places they visited last month. Food was a common theme in October, with Michele’s exploration of Costa Rica’s gastronomy, Melissa’s culinary tour of London, and Mary Anne’s discovery of Santa Fe through its cuisine. Fair warning: Reading these articles will make you hungry—thankfully we have a holiday coming up to remedy that.
What are you thankful for? Share it with us on Facebook or tweet us at @JetsetExtra and @leahswofford.
Happy travels,
