Letter from the Editor: April 2015

Spring has sprung and with the warmth of the sun comes that longing to go somewhere, stretch our legs and explore. It’s usually about this time when my yearning for summer starts and I begin to plan trips for the rest of the year. But where to begin? What to look for? Are there deals out there I don’t know about, and do I have enough points to get there? Those are all the things that cross my mind when the travel-bug bites. What do you do? How do you begin planning that amazing summer vacation for you and your family?

Each year across the United States consumer travel shows visit various markets to help travelers of all types find their next vacation destination. These shows are particularly interesting to me as Jetset Extra has been a media sponsor of the Travel and Adventure Show series for the last two years.

This year, I was asked to host a panel on the Savvy Traveler Stage discussing the topic of points travel; my panelists spoke about how to get started, what to look for, and the best practices. We were asked a multitude of questions as the audience listened to the gospel my experts laid on them—everything from what credit cards to use and how many you should have to which hotel and airline loyalty programs they prefer.

It was an enlightening panel with a ton of information. Luckily, I brought along my cameraman and had him videotape it so you can watch it and get the same advice our audience received that day.
