Jetsetting With the Force Behind L.A.’s Hot Nightspots John Terzian
John Terzian is a well-known Southern California entrepreneur who is the driving force behind many of Los Angeles’ hottest nightspots. John can usually be found at Bootsy Bellows or SHOREbar, the A-list watering holes he helped create, but he also loves to get out of town. Jetset Extra got the details on John’s favorite travel destinations, where he’ll be going next, and what his next hot project will be.
Q: What type of traveler are you? (ie: adventurer, cultural explorer, free spirit, rejuvenator, spa aficionado, etc.)
A: I’m a cultural explorer. Whenever I get a chance to travel, I like visiting places that will inspire me in the aspects of art, fashion, architecture, and design.
Q: What types of activities do you like to do on your travels? Do you look for a place where it’s quiet and you can relax, or someplace that has great activities or nightlife?
A: I love dining at restaurants that are frequented by the locals. I find the cuisine to be a bit more authentic than tourist hot spots. Being that I am at Bootsy Bellows and SHOREbar every night, I prefer a relaxing vacation.
Q: When thinking about where you will travel next, what inspires you to make a decision? And what, if any, research do you do on that destination?
A: When thinking of a next vacation spot, I either try to choose a destination where I can completely get away from the fast pace of Los Angeles to relax, or to specifically see a city for inspiration, such art or architecture.
Q: What is the most memorable trip you’ve taken, and why?
A: The most memorable trip I’ve taken is to Italy. My family and I got to spend some quality time in Florence, Venice, and Lake Como. It was one of the few trips I have taken with my entire family. The trip also allowed me to visit some amazing museums as well as relax in Lake Como.
Q: What is the “best” food find you’ve ever found on a trip?
A: Contemporary tapas at Tickets in Barcelona.
Q: What, if anything, do you always take with you when you travel?
A: A camera to capture the culture of each place I visit, and an international phone.
Q: What’s your best piece of travel advice?
A: Always visit places you want to see. Don’t go where you think you should go based on what people tell you.
Q: Where would you like to travel next?
A: In the immediate future I’d like to visit Austin, Texas. At some point I would like to visit Japan.
Q: Tell us about your upcoming project(s).
A: I’m unveiling a pop-up club in West Hollywood and will be opening a club next spring. We have several big events coming up, including a large-scale one on Halloween that will become annual.

John Terzian’s Bio:
John Terzian is a Southern California native and graduate of USC and Pepperdine Law School who is well-known for spicing up Los Angeles nightlife. He was the chief operating officer at the sophisticated, stylish and energetic LAX nightclub in Hollywood. Here, John redefined nightlife with his signature style of branding, making it one of LA’s most exclusive hot spots. He then structured a deal to license the LAX brand to the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, where it still reigns as one of the most happening nightclubs on the Strip.
His first Westside Los Angeles endeavor is SHOREbar, which opened in May 2012 in Santa Monica and immediately became a high-profile spot for LA’s tastemakers. John continued to cement his brand development when he and business partner Brian Toll opened a performance-based space with a dinner-theater concept called Bootsy Bellows in June 2012 with actor David Arquette, Darren Dzienciol of The Beverly and Trousdale, and VIP veteran Deborah Maguire.
John brings a wealth of experience to Los Angeles as an industry insider. He grew up on the Westside of Los Angeles and has a plethora of close-knit industry relationships that stem from his professional background and entrepreneurial business affairs. John plays an active role in philanthropy and serves with Patricia Arquette and Rosetta Getty on the board of Give Love, which helps develop temporary housing solutions and improves sanitation systems in Haiti.
John has overseen legal consultancy, marketing and business relations for venues such as h.wood, the Tea Room, and Las Palmas, and has also handled brand development for the h.wood.group. He has elevated the h.wood.group’s portfolio into a class of its own, redefining nightlife with a strong sense of elegance, chic décor and savvy style. The brand has proven to be extremely influential and successful which inspired the creation of consumer luxury lifestyle products h.wood.beauty and h.wood tea.
