Hotel Adagio Unveiled
A classic hotel received an extensive makeover, and I was invited to behold the changes. A red carpet lined the sidewalk at the Hotel Adagio’s entrance where guests queued up to join the party. A select few industry insiders and taste-makers were included in the grand celebration.
Campari cocktails were offered in the lobby, along with wine and beer. As guests wandered about the hotel they were treated to a variety of signature cocktails and small bites. Savory appetizers were provided by waiters, while cheese, charcuterie, Mediterranean dips, and vegetables were laid out on a buffet.
The lobby was transformed into a bright, welcoming space that highlighted the stunning Spanish Colonial architecture juxtaposed with modern design touches. Soaring Moorish arched windows provide street views, accented by slinky drapes. It is a space that guests will want to linger in to enjoy the ambiance.
Mortimer’s bar and lounge is a comfortable place to dine or grab a cocktail, thanks to the current renovations, which integrate it into the lobby. Dark wood and colorful furniture provide an inviting atmosphere.
DJ’s were spinning tunes in multiple locations to create a cool vibe that permeated the party. The 16th-floor meeting room became a hip party lounge with cool lighting, cocktails, and tunes.
Several suites on the penthouse floor were open for viewing, including one with a roof terrace with downtown views. A sumptuous dessert buffet included bite-size smores, fruit tarts, and other tasty treats.
The adjoining Samuel Suite contained a fireplace, a bathroom to-die-for and large bedroom, along with a dining table for six and a spacious living area. A perfect retreat for a visiting CEO.
I was lucky enough to sleep over, where I enjoyed a spacious room with city views, silky sheets, and a comfy bed and pillows in a soothing color scheme. They provide cozy robes and luxurious bath products in the marble bathroom. The next morning I breakfasted in the Green Room on spicy huevos rancheros, coffee, and orange juice.
