Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard Pool
A couple of weeks ago I headed to Vegas with my friends Mary Anne (Jetset Extra owner and producer) and Heather for a girls’ getaway. Of course, I had to squeeze some work in (hi, I’m Maxine and I’m a workaholic) – so Cosmoprof and a Vanity Mixer with Inglot Cosmetics at Caesar’s Palace were first on my agenda.
BUT, when all the work was done it was time to play. So we headed to one of my FAVORITE Vegas spots, the Cosmpolitan Hotel. If there is a such thing as a boutique casino … this is it. Even though it’s the hottest thing on the Strip right now, it was like visiting an old friend since I was lucky enough to cover the NYE Festivities.
Our favorite bartender, Malcolm Crow (on the second floor of Chandelier) took us on a tour of the property, and I was able to see some things I hadn’t seen on my January trip. And I fell in love with the Boulevard Pool.
The Cosmo offers guests three pool experiences, The Bamboo Pool, the Marquee Dayclub Pool, and the Boulevard Pool. I love that. Other casinos have those massive pools where everyone is packed together. This is fine for some, but I much prefer this sophisticated menu of smaller dipping options.
The floorplan (is that what you say for pools?) offers unobstructed views of the Strip on different levels, and I much prefer the East Tower to the West Tower (I have stayed in both.) It’s a sophisticated social scene, and you will see that they even offer concerts and other parties in the open-air space.
And I love an infinity pool (an infinity pool at The Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, is one of my fondest memories … ) but there is something so decadent about wading eye-level with the bling of the Las Vegas Strip. And if you aren’t in the mood for a swim, there is a good poolside menu and even game offerings (heaven forbid we not be entertained every minute of the day!)
As for lounging options, there are more traditional lounge chairs, daybeds, and for the ultimate Vegas pool experience, there is always a cabana for more privacy (please say privacy with an English accent … this is the Cosmpolitan after all).
