COEX, Shopping With a Little Bit of Everything
While staying in Korea, you will not find a shortage of shopping opportunities. However, as a foreigner in a strange land (especially in a land that tends to run on the smaller side) what might seem like a simple task in other countries (such as buying a winter coat), can turn into an all day ordeal that does not bode well for ones self esteem. That is why one should turn to COEX for their everyday shopping needs.
COEX is not an ordinary shopping mall. Inside this shoppers euphoria, you will find the typical countless stores and restaurants. In addition, you can also visit an aquarium, a movie theater and a museum solely dedicated to kimchi, one of Korea’s favorite cuisines. COEX is able to maintain a balance between pleasing foreigners and keeping a sense of self that most establishments lose. For example, if you are in the mood to escape and eat some Western cuisine, you may stop and grab a bite at Burger King or Quiznos. However, if you feel like expanding your pallet and want to try some Korean flavor, there are many restaurants to choose from. If you need to find a book printed in English, COEX has a fantastic bookstore, Bandi & Luni’s, with a huge English section. Again, if you want to stay true to the country you are visiting, you can visit Evan Record and see what new K-Pop CD was just released. The point is, COEX is literally a one stop shopping experience. You will be hard pressed to enter its doors and walk away with not only what you were looking for, but many other items you didn’t even realize you wanted.
Happy travels!
